Alison Bennett is an Assistant Educational Psychologist. She graduated from the University of Leeds in 2003 with a BSc in Psychology. Having enjoyed this course immensely, she was keen to quickly gain experience in practical work with children and young people. Commencing training with the Careers Service (Connexions) in Greater Merseyside soon after, she qualified in 2004 and has experience in working with children and young people with learning difficulties and disabilities, across secondary schools, FE providers, and Pupil Referral Units, while working closely with a wide range of professionals and support services.
In 2007, Alison moved to New Zealand where she raised her family and worked as a 1:1 SEND TA, an ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) facilitator and a home education tutor. Having moved back to the UK in 2020, she continued to work as a SEND TA before applying for and gaining the post of Assistant Educational Psychologist at EPE in 2022.
Alison has both personal and professional insight into neurodivergence, an area she is particularly passionate about. She is a member of EPE’s Autism Focus Group, helping to develop the service’s offer in this area.
Outside of work, Alison enjoys music—having sung in choirs and played in brass bands—as well as spending time with her husband and two sons, reading, and walking in the countryside.
