Sharon Abbott

Associate Play Therapist

Sharon Abbott is an Associate Play Therapist for EPE. Sharon completed her Masters in Play Therapy in 2025 at the University of Wales and is a registered member of the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT). Since qualifying, she has supported children across Warwickshire and Birmingham through creative, child‑centred therapeutic approaches.

Her career began in early education, working as an assistant manager in a preschool while completing her BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies at the University of Warwick. She went on to complete a PGCE and gain Qualified Teacher Status, becoming a primary school teacher working with children aged 5 to 11. During this time, she taught pupils from a wide range of backgrounds, including looked‑after children and children who had fled war‑torn countries or domestic violence.

Sharon later moved into specialist education, collaborating with Educational Psychologists and specialist teachers to support children and families struggling during the COVID period. She then became a lead teacher in a specialist SEN school focused on behavioural difficulties, working closely with children in the care system and those with neurodiverse diagnoses.

Alongside her professional work, Sharon enjoys reading, spending time with her family, visiting the beach, and taking her dog Ruby for long walks.
